Every day, the ProgrammableWeb team is busy, updating its three primary directories for APIs, clients (language-specific libraries or SDKs for consuming or providing APIs), and source code samples. If you have new APIs, clients, or Source Code examples to add to ProgrammableWeb’s directories, we offer forms (APIs, Clients, Source Code) for submitting them to our API research team. If there’s a listing in one of our directories that you’d like to claim as the owner, please contact us at email@example.com.
Five APIs have been added to the ProgrammableWeb directory in categories including Charity, Sustainability and COVID-19. Highlights include an API that can forecast carbon emissions from electricity use and an API that checks text for plagiarism. Here’s a rundown of the latest additions.
CarbonScopeData RESTful APITrack this API enables developers to integrate carbon emissions data into applications. It provides access to two types of life-cycle inventory (LCI) data from CarbonScopeData: process LCI and environmentally extended input-output LCI. The API is useful to quantify, track and reduce climate impacts. The API is listed in the Sustainability category.
electricityMap is a Platform including visualizations, database tracking and API, to help users understand the climate impact of electricity. The electricityMap APITrack this API provides hourly live, historical, and forecasted global electricity emissions data from 228 areas globally. This data is useful to inform users how to consume electricity at the optimal time for optimization and reducing the carbon footprint. This API is also listed under Sustainability.
US COVID Atlas provides maps and data about the COVID-19 virus in the USA. The US COVID Atlas APITrack this API returns state and county level data including confirmed and death count data, and local indicator of spatial association results (LISA statistics). Parameters can be specified for type of data, time frame, location, soucre (“usafacts” or “1p3a”) and more. The US COVID Atlas API is listed in the COVID-19 category.
Plagly is an API-first tool for checking text for plagiarism against the entire internet plus other databases. The platform also can detect and eliminate spelling and grammatical errors in more than 20 languages. The Plagly APITrack this API returns JSON responses so users can check the plagiarism status of web pages, detects the plagiarized phrases and highlights them. The API is listed in the Writing category.
Change offers services for carbon emissions and donations to non-profit organizations that are committed to cultural awareness. Developers can use the CHANGE Donations and Carbon Offsets APITrack this API to easily make charitable contributions throught their own platforms. The API manages the entire donation lifecycle from initial creation to final deposit. All funds are routed through Our Change Foundation 501(c)(3)* to ensure expedient and secure payouts. This API is listed in the Charity category.
